So recently, my fathers's older brother traced our family tree and brought most of our distant relations to Singapore. I still question how he found all of them. I am still in a current state of shock, seeing the way the family tree worked out and how extensive it gets. I might get some facts wrong. Forgive me, the family tree is too huge. Here goes.
My great great grand father had 3 sons. Great grand father and two other brothers
My great grand fathers's 2nd brother had 3 daughters and 3rd brother had one son.
My great grand father had 3 sons. One migrated to Singapore(my grandfather), one migrated to Hong Kong and one remained in china. The one that remained in china re-married because his wife passed on, they had a daughter, my aunt, and she visits us often as she does business in Singapore.
My great grand fathers's 2nd brother had 3 daughters. All of the daughters married. All of which migrated to brunei, malaysia and finally settled for good in Vancouver, Canada. One of the daughter's husband whom is a very knowledgable man whom I met yesterday, is called Yat Cho. They had two daughters, one still lives in Canda and another went to London and studied which enabled her to met a Singaporean man. Now she lives in Singapore. Mei Mei is her name, she's my distant aunt. Dad says we'll visit great grand uncle (? I think) Yat cho soon in Vancouver together with my cousin Sherlyn and her family. Mei mei had 3 children. The one who lives in Canada has 4 children. One of which I met yesterday, her name is Ellen and she is 9, she has been in Singapore visiting (it's her summer holiday)
My grand fathers 3rd brother married and then migrated to Australia. (this is all I know about him)
It's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G how this works out. The unexpected discovery; I now have relatives in China, Canada, Hong kong, Australia and of course Singapore. WOW. This is way wayyy to over whelming. None the less, I am grateful that God has allowed me to trace my roots, at least on my Dad's side of the family, because most Singaporeans are unable to... (ie my Maternal side because both of her parents were adopted)
Anyway, I was thinking about it, maybe why the world keeps expanding and the fact that most people in the world remained strangers is because of lost relationships that are hard to trace and very confusing. I guess most people wouldn't bother to trace or remember once the 'old one', who is the only link to what ever history, passes on. Maybe just maybe we're all related to one another because we all came from Adam and eve.
I'm rambling, I am going to stop. Soon.
Prelims are in about a week and a half. Soon it'll be O's. DAYUM OH DAYUM. How times does move at the speed of a bullet train.
Xoxo, Shan
